Mission style was an architectural movement that began in the late 19th century for a colonial style's revivalism and reinterpretation, which drew inspiration from the late 18th and early 19th-century Spanish missions in California. It’s similar to Spanish colonial architecture, in particular, is sometimes also referred to as Western Craftsman style, and is most common in California and the Southwest.
Some common features of a mission style home are: smooth stucco walls and exteriors, red clay tile roofs, bell towers, courtyards, parapets, and Spanish baroque ornamentation like Moorish arches, carvings, and rose windows.
