About Warm Springs

Warm Springs is a neighborhood in Fremont, California with approximately 1,000 housing units.

The average household income is $94,000 and the average home value is $640,000. Warm Springs is located between the Mission San Jose area and the Fremont Central Business District. The neighborhood was named after an artesian spring that provided water for cattle and horses. In 1884, William Meek purchased land in Warm Springs for his ranch headquarters; he also built a dance hall there which later became one of the first movie theaters in California. In 1889, Meek sold his property to David Hewston who built homes on it; this began the development of Warm Springs as a residential area.

After World War II ended many veterans moved into Warm Springs; this created an increase in population which led to commercial development along Fremont Boulevard (Route 880). Warm Springs has several parks such as Artie White Park (formerly known as Warm Springs Park), Ardenwood Historic Farm (a historic farmhouse museum), and Loma Verde Park (a dog park). It also has shopping centers such as the Baylands Shopping Center and Mission Village Shopping Center (which includes a Safeway grocery store). There are two schools within its boundaries: Bernal Elementary School (K-5) and Del Mar High School (9-12)..
