Balboa Terrace is a residential neighborhood in San Francisco, California. It is located between the neighborhoods of Ingleside and Oceanview and is part of District 10. The main thoroughfare is Balboa Street.
The neighborhood has seen a significant amount of development since the 1980s including new condominium complexes and restaurants that have opened along Balboa Street in recent years. In fact, most residents now refer to it as “Downtown Balboa” because it was once considered part of downtown San Francisco when it was first built during the early 20th century by developer Amedee Van Ness who incidentally, also developed nearby Golden Gate Park and Lake Merced.
